Bee Gees is one of Thomas Anders’ favorite groups. They experienced their ups and downs, but the fact is that, perhaps, it’s the only band in the whole world that could manage to combine so many positive moments as professionally as they did: amazing "live" performances of the most complex songs on any stages, producing and writing the world hits for many other "stars".

Bee Gees are three brothers and talented musicians: Barry and twins, Robin and Maurice Gibb. There was one more, the 4th brother, Andy Gibb. He was a solo-musician from the very beginning, and was a true mega-star of all teenagers in USA. Unfortunately, he died in 1988 out of drugs overdose.

The first performance of the "golden three" took place in Manchester in 1955, when the eldest brother was nine, and the twins were of 6. Then the family leaved for Australia. There in 1966 a record named "Spicks and specks" was out; it brought them their first fame. Let’s say that Bee Gees originally headed themselves for the music like "The Beatles". Later together with the growth of creative experience and the acquaintance with the famous English producer Robert Stigwood (The Beatles) brothers Gibb worked out their own sound – it was nice, tuneful and interesting mixture of pop and rock music of 60-s. Then there’re the first world hits of the group: "To Love Somebody" (one of the best songs of 60-s), "Massachusetts" (a beautiful country-song and an absolute №1 hit all over the world), "Words" (a song written by Bee Gees for Elvis Presley, which became a hit in his performance). It must be said that in spite of the commercial success Bee Gees has never been under the strict pressure of record companies (as against Modern Talking, for example). And it allowed brothers to go in for their own solo activity. In 1969 one of this trio, Robin Gibb, leaved the band and engaged himself in his solo career. The first single of Robin - "Saved by the bell" - became a №1 hit in Europe.

In the beginning of 1970-s Bee Gees recorded 4 albums that allowed brothers to come up to the musical market in USA. As a start, an energetic song "Lonely Days" reached the 3rd point in "Billboard". By the way, Russian music fans got their first acquaintance with the band from that song on. And then a beautiful song "How can you mend a broken heart" (amazingly covered by Julio Iglesias recently) became the first band’s №1 hit in USA. Brothers Gibb didn’t forget to write songs for other musicians as well. They created a wonderful song for Engelbert Humperdinck named "Sweetheart".

The success in USA allowed brothers to develop musically in the more impressive way. Proceeding to the recording of an album "Mr. Natural", brothers understood that the music of "The Beatles" and rock-n-roll became a thing of the past. On that stage Bee Gees started to form a new sound. There was their firm falsetto singing, which can be appreciated while listening to a masterpiece called "Charade". The next album "Main Course", recorded in 1975, has already contained much disco-hits ("Jive Talkin", "Be Tender With My Love", "Nights On Broadway", "Wind Of Change"). According to the opinion of many musical critics, Bee Gees with their album "Main Course" created a Disco style, on the foundation of which such musicians as Abba, Michael Jackson, Boney M and Modern Talking, could create later on.

In 1976 Bee Gees began to popularize "disco fever" on the Earth. Everything started with an album "Children of the World" which contained a mega-hit "You should be dancing" (20 weeks on the 1st place in USA). During the same year Bee Gees created the most famous soundtrack in the musical history for the movie "Saturday Night Fever" with John Travolta. This became a cult film in the history of disco music. All "disco mania" began with it right away. Almost all tracks of this record became world hits №1 ("Stayin' Alive", "How Deep Is Your Love", "Night Fever", "More Than A Woman"), and the soundtrack itself was sold in 55 millions of copies.

At the same time Bee Gees wrote and produced world hits for Andy Gibb, Frankie Valli and Yvonne Elliman. One of Yvonne’s songs, "If i can't have you", was later amazingly covered by Thomas Anders ("Fan Club by Thomas Anders CD 2001"). It’s worth mentioning that from December, 1977 up to June, 1978 the American charts were headed only by Bee Gees or by their songs, written for other singers.

The album named "Spirits having flown", recorded in 1979, first last and all the time put the band "Bee Gees" on the list of the greatest musicians. At that time they recorded their next world №1 hits: "Tragedy" and "Too Much Heaven".

Shortly after that the Disco-epoque started to decline. As a result, an album of 1981 named "Living Eyes" faced a relative commercial "failure", which, by the way, was not commercial but creative, assuming the band’s return to the more deep and serious music. At the beginning of 80-s brothers focused on writing and producing for other singers. They could succeed in it greatly! Such truly great hits as "Woman In Love" and "Guilty" for Barbra Streisand, "Heartbreaker" for Dionne Warwick, "Chain Reaction" for Diana Ross will stay forever in the hearts of all true music fans.

The middle of 80-s was remarkable for the one of Bee Gees’ soloists, Robin Gibb, by the recording of successful solo releases. The album "How Old Are You" and the single "Juliet" were made in a style "synth-pop" and occupied the highest positions in hit-parades throughout the whole Europe.

In 1987 the 1st album in the last 6 years was recorded; it was named "E.S.P." It’s quite difficult to describe it simply. However, as a whole, as usual, it’s just nice, intellectual, tuneful music with some disco elements. On the whole, the album is very impressive. The success of the single "You Win Again" (6 weeks on the 1st place in Germany) during the period of disco-relapse looks quite imposing. The following albums ("One", "High civilization", "Size isn't everything") were highly appreciated as well.

In 1997 Bee Gees gathered together again in order to record the best (on some opinions) album – "Still Waters". This disc deserves only one epithet – enchanting. In the same year they went on world tour. In USA, during the concert in Las-Vegas a wonderful DVD was recorded – "One Night Only", which allowed audience to make sure that the professional and vocal abilities of Bee Gees were truly endless.

In 1998 Bee Gees sang a remarkable and successful duet with Celine Dion. Together they recorded a nice song "Immortality".

In 2001 an album called "This Is Where I Came In" was published; it was the last one in band’s history. In 2003 one of brothers, Maurice Gibb, died after an unfortunate operation. The history of one of the most famous groups in popular music has ended with his death...

During a career of more than 40 years Bee Gees sold more than 180 millions of albums in the whole world and wrote lots of hits for themselves and for other musicians. Their songs were performed by more than 1000 groups and singers, such as Elvis Presley, Janis Joplin, Barbra Streisand, Destiny's Child, Celine Dion, Wycleaf Jean, Cliff Richard, Steps, Boyzone, Take that, Kim Wilde, Thomas Anders, Michael Bolton, Jimmy Somerville, Diana Ross, Leo Sayer, Dionne Warwick, Kenny Rogers and others.

Bee Gees became the second most successful group in the world musical history after "The Beatles". Brothers Gibb wrote and produced more than 200 №1 hits in the whole world. They had №1 hits in every decade since 60-s and right until the present times. Bee Gees received 7 "Grammy" awards and were brought in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and The Vocal Group Hall of Fame.

Bee Gees - это три брата и талантливых музыканта: Барри и близнецы Робин и Морис Гибб. Был еще четвертый брат – Энди Гибб. Он изначально выступал сольно и являлся настоящей мега-звездой всех тинэйджеров в США. К сожалению, умер в 1988 году от передозировки наркотиков.

Первое выступление "золотой тройки" состоялось в Манчестере в 1955 году, когда старшему было девять лет, а близнецам - по шесть. Потом семья переехала в Австралию. Середина 80-х отметилась для одного из солистов Bee Gees – Робина Гибба, выпуском успешных сольных релизов. Альбом "How Old Are You" и сингл "Juliet" были сделаны в стиле "Synthy-pop" и занимали ведущие строчки хит-парадов по всей Европе.
