Claus Koch (saxophonist and composer), was born in 1967, and studied in the High Musician School in Graz / Austria and at Maestro Barry Harris in New-York. He, like no another, has managed to unite elements of swing, soul and jazz in his special way of playing.

In 1996 he founded a quartet "Claus Koch & The Boperators", performing Koch's music in clubs and at festivals all over the central Europe.

Koch belongs to the minority of the young saxophonists, who deeply imbibed the connection of the swing-era with modern jazz, and he also added inner light into it. Lester Young, Hank Mobley, Sonny Rollins Pate admit that. Koch's distinct articulation, as well as his warm, rich sound, make a strong impression. You can hear the stories in his improvisations, and some quotations of the originals. His solo part in Cole Porter's bossa-nova "Good Bye Little Dream" reminds of Stan Getz.

If he's not doing his own music, then he works with Charlie Antolini, Pete York, Lilly Thornton, Annette Neuffer, Dusko Goikovic, George Greene, Harald Ruschenbaum, Helmut Kagerer, Roman Schwaller, Claus Raible, Martin Zenker, Max Neissendorfer and Al Porcino, naming only the few.

Together with Meinhard "Obi" Jenne, Roland Döringer and Volker Dorsch he played on a jazz-album of Thomas Anders.
