In summer of 1984 after a successful single "Heißkalter Engel" (a German version of 1983 hit "Send Me An Angel" from the album "Heartland" of Australian new-wave band REAL LIFE) the Intersong label decided to gain more international success and asked Thomas to try singing in English. They recorded a cover version in English of another REAL LIFE's hit "Catch Me I'm Falling". That's how HEADLINER started.

Originally it wasn't planned at all that Dieter became a part of the duet, so Intersong was searching for someone else. According to Thomas Anders Dieter had never sung on any of their records, he was supposed to write and produce the songs only.

The next Thomas' single "Es geht mir gut heut' Nacht" ("Lucky Guy") was recorded both in English and in German. Then Dieter left off to Mallorca for his Honeymoon, where he wrote a song in English for the new project ("You're My Heart, You're My Soul").

Следующий сингл Томаса "Es geht mir gut heut' Nacht" ("Lucky Guy") записывается уже в двух версиях: на немецком и на английском. Затем Дитер уезжает в свадебное путешествие на остров Mallorca, где пишет на английском ещё одну песню для нового проекта ("You're My Heart, You're My Soul").
