An extraordinary guitarist from Los-Angeles
and one of the most professional musicians in R’n’B, Paul
Jackson Junior, has got his first guitar at 9, started serious
studies at 12, and at 15 decided to become a professional
musician, right after the meeting with a jazz pianist and
singer Patrice Rushen. Rushen became Paul’s tutor and represented
a young talent to many musicians, who invited him in their
bands afterwards.
As a session musician Paul took part in projects
of the greatest blues-, jazz-, rock- and pop-stars. He collaborated
with The Temptations, Nancy Wilson, George Benson, the
Pointer Sisters, Chicago, Anita Baker, Aretha Franklin, Quincy Jones,
Lionel Richie, Barbra Streisand, Elton John, Bobby Brown,
Celine Dion, Michael Jackson and Madonna. He also showed
his worth as a solo musician; his albums, gathering much
jazz audience, had good sale ratings and were nominated
for Grammy.
Paul as a concert musician went on tours
with Whitney Houston, performed with Backstreet Boys and
Destiny’s Child. He also appeared in TV-program "Diva Las
Vegas" together with Cher, Shakira, Mary J. Blige and others,
took part in Billboard Awards tribute to Jam Master Jay,
composed music for a movie "Undercover Brother" with Stanley
Clarke and for a TV-hit "Cedric the Entertainer".
In 1993-94 Paul Jackson Junior played as
a guitarist while recording Thomas’ albums When
Will I See You Again and Barcos
De Cristal.
